Two projects that were supported by Paris Region will be highlighted at the 77th Golden Globes, which will be held on January 5, 2020 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. Les Misérables and Portrait of a Lady on Fire have both been nominated in the "Foreign Films" category:
Les Misérables
Les Misérables by Ladj Ly, released in theaters on November 20, 2019, has already accumulated 300,000 tickets in France for its second week of showing.
Portrait of a Lady in Fire
Portrait of a Lady on Fire by Céline Sciamma, released on September 18, 2019, winner of the Best Screenplay Award at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, has accumulated just over 100,000 tickets since its release. The film portrays a woman painter and her model, Héloïse, who refuses the conventions assigned to her role in late 18th century France.
Most of the interiors of Céline Sciamma's film were shot in an abandoned castle in La Chapelle-Gauthier in Seine et Marne (77). For the occasion, Bénédicte Couvreur (Lilies Film), who has produced all of the director's films, accommodated part of the team in the vicinity. A smart way to reduce your ecological footprint without necessarily increasing your production costs.
